The meeting focused on a public hearing regarding proposed amendments to the zoning regulations and maps within the city code, specifically targeting Chapter 10. The discussion included a presentation on updates designed to modernize zoning practices, create more flexibility for property owners in the downtown area, and align regulations with the community's vision. Key topics included the renaming of existing districts for clarity, the creation of a new 'center expansion district,' and the assurance that existing uses, such as residential properties, would remain permitted under the new code. The commission emphasized that these changes are intended to guide future growth along major corridors without mandating immediate modifications for current property owners.
