The committee reviewed three main items. First, a variance request for the installation of elevated condensers at 8301 Blind Pass Rd was discussed, with requirements for landscaping adjustments. Second, an after-the-fact variance request for mini-split condensing units at 1706 Pass A Grille Way was reviewed for upcoming Board of Adjustment consideration. Third, a request to utilize excess parking spaces at the Dolphin Village Shopping Center for public commercial parking was discussed, focusing on operational details, signage, parking restrictions, and requirements for owner authorization and City Manager approval.
The commission held final hearings on municipal ordinances, approving the millage rate for fiscal year 2027 at the roll back level and adopting the final budget, which incorporates the addition of a capital projects administrator. The commission also passed amendments to wastewater and connection fees. Public commentary addressed concerns regarding the funding of capital improvements through utility rates and potential impacts of a density trading tool.
The Special Magistrate reviewed several code enforcement cases. Key actions included granting continuances for multiple cases to allow for further documentation, property compliance reviews, or expert testimony. A specific case involving a property owner was found to be in compliance, with administrative fees assessed. Another case involving ongoing sound violations led to a request for a continuance for acoustic testing. Additionally, a fine and administrative costs were imposed on a property owner for failure to remove signage, and another case was addressed regarding permit applications for an auxiliary building.
