The Council discussed the fee structure for radioactive material transport rulemaking, specifically debating the rationale for a four-year review cycle versus a two-year cycle and addressing opposition from railroads regarding fee assessments and administrative concerns. The Council also noted that broader concerns about notification, tribal involvement, and safety were outside the scope of the current rulemaking. Ultimately, the Council voted to adopt the proposed radioactive material transport fee rules. Additionally, the Secretary provided a minor update regarding the agenda and timeline for the upcoming Yellow Rose Bush with exceptions hearing.
